Hocus Pocus A pocket full of spells You can do hoodoo Scratch a coin on the wishing well Magical potions Zodiacal signs A cosmic commotion Blackbirds in a pie One Ticket, One Ride (x4) Tick-tock, tick-tock Running out of sand Waitin’ at the station Yeah, with a ticket in my hand Instamatic moolah A stash o’ cold cash Maybe a million gazillion Nah, too bad I’ve got to play again One Ticket, One Ride (x4) Never you mind If the nickel fails You can keep on playing ‘Til your lucky day One Ticket, One Ride (x4) © Geoff Achison 2008

I ain’t gonna play it your way I want no part of this dirty game ‘I know the deal’ said the Ace to the Knave ‘This deck is stacked, and you’re two faced’ Now I’m gonna ride I’m gonna pack up this broken home I’m gonna ride away from here I ain’t gonna grant you the high Of being the one on whom I’ve come to rely I’ll you something, that won’t mystify If you see my ass, I’ll be waving bye-bye Now I’m gonna ride I’m gonna pack up this broken home I’m gonna ride away from here (Inst.) I’m gonna leave all the things I don’t need I’ll lock the doors and the windows, and mail you back the keys This situation is one I can’t win Either you’re turning me down or you’re turning me in Now I’m gonna ride I’m gonna pack up this broken home I’m gonna ride away from here © Geoff Achison Mar 2013

I’m just working my way back home I’m just working my way back home I ain’t ever been there before Working my way back home Was it there in the music they played Was it there in a lover’s embrace This place that I’m searching for Working my way back home With every little move that I make With every little step that I take There’s a place that I’m searching for Working my way back home I’m just working my way back home I’m just working my way back home I ain’t ever been there before Working my way back home If my spirit should rise to the sky I’m preparing the whole of my life There’s a place that I’m searching for Working my way back home © Geoff Achison 2012

Well I feel like a king When I hold my woman tight And I feel like a king When I love that woman right I can’t understand Just what kind of a man Wanna rule everything I feel like a king In the freedom of my music I feel like a king Any ol’ time that I use it I can’t understand Just what kind of a man Wanna rule everything I feel like a king When I see my brand new baby child I feel like a king When I see that baby smilin’ I can’t understand Just what kind of a man Wanna rule everything © Geoff Achison 2004

Big Machine 07:18
Seven until seven I work the big machine Never seeing daylight you know it ain’t for me Yeah, yeah, yeah – I want a brand new scene So I’m eyeing off the clock As it’s chasing number three Every hour I spend Feels like a million years Yeah, yeah, yeah – I want a brand new scene So I’m working on a plan To get me off the big machine I want to look at smiling faces I want to have a place to go I want to have a pretty baby And spoil her with my dough Yeah, yeah, yeah – I want a brand new scene So I’m working on a plan To get me off the big machine I don’t need my name in lights And I don’t have to be a big wheel I just want to stay up all night If that’s the way I feel Yeah, yeah, yeah – I want a brand new scene So I’m working on a plan To get me off the big machine © Geoff Achison 1993

Souldigger 06:38
I was born in the country I was raised on the land In a house that would shake by the train line I’m the son of a railroad man Well soon I developed this notion That my own town just couldn’t use me I was small, I was dumb, I was dreaming There was some place I would rather be So I moved around ‘til I found what would suit me Moved by the sounds going down in the city Souldigger Guitar picker I was born in the country Come the time I was spanking a six string The only thing that I seemed to get right Working my day gig in the week time And just jamming these blues in the night Well I nursed it, sometimes I cursed it There were times when I nearly gave up I’d play upstairs and downstairs, Melbourne to Memphis Just had to get me a start So I moved around ‘til I found what would suit me Moved by the sounds going down in the city Souldigger Guitar picker I was born in the country © Geoff Achison 1993

Hey little big men You’d better watch yourself, better watch yourself Yeah little big men I just might come on after you myself Hey little big men With my sticks and my stones Yeah little big men I want to be the one to knock you off of your throne Well you’re just like the devil I know just who you’re trying to please I’ve seen you dancing to his evil So why don’t you come clean? Hey little big men You’d watch yourself, better watch yourself Yeah little big men I just might come on after you myself Well you’re just like the bogey-man You’re just like some kind of ghoul You frighten all the little children So what am I supposed to do? Hey little big men You’d better watch yourself, better watch yourself Yeah little big men I just might come on after you myself © Geoff Achison 2004

about

An exciting ‘live’ album release featuring Geoff Achison's UK Souldiggers with internationally acclaimed drummer SAM KELLY, sensational keys man PAUL JOBSON & rock solid bassist ANDY HODGE. The group set up at Mike Thorne’s Rimshot Studios in Kent mid-tour 2018 and put on a superb show for a small but enthusiastic studio audience. The sheer joy of playing music is evident on this disc as the band barnstorms through a set of on-stage favourites and impromptu jams.
