Skeleton Kiss

Explosive hits on the TV screen
Just un-missable
Now we’ve seen things that we can’t un-see
Unforgivable
They’re dodging bullets now they’re cuttin’ through wires
Twisting them words around
They shoot down truths and they rescue lies
But they’ve got the best room in town
Wrong ain’t right and right ain’t wrong
There is no place where it don’t matter none
It oughta make no difference ‘cause we’re on the same side
We’ve all got got a point of view
This ‘cops & robbers’ and ‘cats and mice’
Is a choice I don’t wanna choose
Songbird singing his morning song
From the roof of the Capitol
Now we know things that we can’t un-know
Yeah, but what’re we gonna do about it?
Wrong ain’t right and right ain’t wrong
There is no place where it don’t matter none
A skeleton crew on a skeleton ship
Yes men overboard
All betrayed with a skeleton kiss
So why do they forgive him for?
Wrong ain’t right and right ain’t wrong
There is no place where it don’t matter none
Right ain’t wrong and wrong ain’t right
There is no way you’re gonna win this fight

Sovereign Town

Betty I know that I was raised to work the land
I’m not afraid of hard labour
And dirt in my nails
But I’ve been hearing of these new fortunes found
All I need’s to take the journey
It’s just layin’ on the ground
I hear of madmen all gripped by a fever
But mine is a calling
I am guided by the Angels
Sold my plough and my beasts of burden
For a ticket on a clipper
Pick & shovel, pan and wheelbarrow
Sovereign town road x 2
Seven months since I staked my claim
I don’t know where the gold is
But I’ve found where it ain’t
Life ain’t nothin’ here but flies, stench & and heat
Dirt and dust in the damper
And mud in my tea
But I’ve seen lucky strikes a dozen times over
Always back before the week’s out
New hats & boots and hangovers
There’s better pickings selling sly grog I hear
Or just victuals & beer
Getting rich off men’s needs
Sovereign town road x 2
My clothes are wet and my fingers are numb
I sifted half a ton of silt
For a speck on my thumb
But don’t lose faith in our fortune unfound
I just know safe and it’s sound
Somewhere deep in the ground

Wandsworth Bridge

So who did I think I am?
And why had I come here for?
Escaping what fate had in store for me
Or was it miss destiny calling me?
So what did I think I’d find?
In this city of twisting fortunes
With it’s history of fire & torture
With it’s villains & kings
I thought I knew what love was
I thought we’d last forever
On Wandsworth bridge
I’ve got a lock of her hair
And a letter she sent to me
‘Will you make it home by valentine’s day?
I’m missing you
More than anything’
‘A penny for the guy mister’
Well it must have been the 5th of November
I realized the man that’d met here
Had taken all my gold and my silver
Down and out in London town
So hard to accept this was failure
I stood face to face with the dragon
But I’ll fight another day
I thought I knew what love was
I thought we’d last forever
On Wandsworth bridge
I’ve got a lock of her hair
And a letter she sent to me
‘Will you make it home by valentine’s day?
I’m missing you
More than anything’

Small Town Crime
03:44
|
|||
Once began
Got a pocket full of nothing
End to end
Is it all supposed to mean something?
Head hung low
Now running for the exit
Don’t pass go
Got nothing due collecting
Small town crime
Need a place to hide
Front row seat
In a one track mind
Small town
Best of days
Just standing in the shadows
Crest of a wave
Then dumped back in the shallows
Active mind
On a little expedition
Small town crime
That will never bear admitting
Small town crime
Need a place to hide
Front row seat
In a one track mind
Small town

World Of Blue
05:26

You walked into the room and commanded attention
We hung on every word of every sentence
You loved to joke and to share your opinion
To light up your smoke, set us straight on religion
Sometimes your views were outdated, refusing to change with the times
And you wove a world of blue
And you wove a world of blue
You left them in a fever of rapt adulation
Buy you a drink in sincere admiration
You’d stay up all night holding court at the bar
You could cuss like a soldier, playin' your sweet blues guitar
I was young and impressionable, emulating your every move
And you wove a world of blue
And you wove a world of blue
Music & laughter was all that you gave us
You could be mean as a dog or as kind as an angel
Your love was a transient gift
As you readied to move on again
And you wove a world of blue
And you wove a world of blue

Sleepwalking
03:45
|
|||
I’m wishing I was
Just sleepwalking
On a midnight creep
Wishing I was
Just sleepwalking
How could this ever be?
Like waking up from
A bad nightmare
And I’m turning in my bed
Another world of
My own invention
A drama in my head
Just like we never existed
We’re not what we seem
And I oughta be waking up soon
Can you see what that means?
Wishing I was
Just sleepwalking
And none of this ever was
I’m standing here like a dream talking
Just a ghost in your hall
Time don’t mean nothing at all
Except the days and years
Whatever innocence was
It was stolen away from here
Wishing I was
Just sleepwalking
It’s all gonna be alright
With the rising sun
I’ll be walking into the light
With the rising sun
I’ll be walking into the light

Rescue The Past
03:59
|
|||
Last night
I had too much to think
Awoke in fright
Dreaming that dream again
Revolution
Dread bells ringing
Silken stockinged feet on the run
Retribution
Axes swinging
Shame and slobber from silver tongues
Turning the pages
Changing the guard
A new generation
Can’t rescue the past
I rubbed my eyes
Switching nightmares I turned my head
On the starboard side
Cried the crowsnest there’s land ahead
From the hand of the father
Down from the skies
A gift of Eden, a flag unfurled
By stick of thunder
And bare faced lies
End of days for the ancient world
Turning the pages
Changing the guard
A new generation
Can’t rescue the past
It’s the same old revelation
All of these things must pass
It’s just self preservation
And it could be coming to kick your ass
Turning the pages
Changing the guard
A new generation
Can’t rescue the past
